Though I clearly state in my CV/resume that the applications is for HMT AND NOT MT/QA or DU and I list the specialties I have experience in, yet I get test files in just all specialties with clear instructions that the employer is looking for > 98% quality. The readers of the resumes seem blind or weak in the language of English comprehension themselves. Focus MT, Bangalore goes a step further that if there are blanks then there would be half-mark deduction for each and also for punctuation. All want HMTs to be able to do the shittiest of dictations even in ancient codecs with good (+98%) quality and fast. So, while the demand is for DU the rate payable is for that of MT. All work is online though I prefer offline via FTP as the rate/line is just the same. I think they are all looking for CMT and not HMT. By the way CMT for me stands for Chutia Medical Transcribers. Nearly all want a "CMT" to work the graveyard shift, which they call as "late night shift". In winter times, in the north we have got heaters going on to work from home where the electricity rate is around Rs4/KW, and a couple of broadband service providers, all of which costs not mentioning the health hazards (like sleep apnea and long-term development of memory impairment) of working overnight, and these fellas do their own mathematics for selfish gains paying their miniscule daytime work rate. If they have people working the graveyard shift in their offices then they would have to pay a higher rate, night allowances and maybe dinner too and many mugs of coffee. These are the kind who are destroying the outsourcing to India of this very demanding profession. Anna bachao mere desh ko! Mere deshwasi hain corrupt to the roots.

jutamaro! I completely agree with your statements. I have worked for Focus MT India as DU and I really felt like a begger, getting peanuts for all the hard work done...though they acknowledge our efficiency, all the time they want to make a bigger begger out of us by forcing us to do more lines (like asking us to go many streets for alms!!)... Voice recognition software as I have said in my previous post is a really nauseating shit that all MTs must boycott...because of this software only people are being exploited..and as you said offline work is much faster to process..
