HMT aur beggar may kya difference?
#1
Over the years as HMT in India I have found that most vendors especially third party vendors looking for HMTs expect them to give direct upload/95% quality of even gutter dictators at low rates with no guarantee of daily volumes and that too expecting them to be available during prime daytime. In India they think HMTs are just suckers to be exploited. There may be many reasons as to why a person is working from home not just because they are housewives/students. Even men work from home may be because of living in tier II or III towns where there is lack of any or good MT company. HMTs may be people who are underemployed or up in age avoiding the generation gap in an office environment.

HMTs are made to forsake a salary package available to their counterparts in an office that includes other perquisites of provident fund, HRA, medical insurance, paid leave, etc. Most HMTs, even experienced ones, earn barely enough to cover their electricity and broadband expenses. We have to provide and take care of our own PC hardware and provide for inverters which is a very expensive source of power. We too have need to provide for our families.

To earn further with dirty exploits, many MT companies have started online training like the infamous Venu Gopala Rao from Hyderabad, providing third class training material and dictations for a pricey sum with a lollipop of providing home-based jobs after training which they never do.

For all aspiring MTs I would advise to keep away as this is basically a very professional low earning/sustainable job. Same is true for other audio/video transcription work. And you pay a heavy price in terms of your health like eye strain, wrist/shoulder pain, etc. working long hours for alms.

I agree with you. These days we find only hard dictations, all the crap that is thrown away by US MT companies. Pay has not been revised for the last six or seven years and surprisingly the rate has been going down.

I also agree with your point, but 50:50. If your good enough with your work, you will be recognized well by your company that your are working at present, it is giving and taking police as far as you and your company

But the concept of "OUTSOURCING" is for beggars which was started by very intelligent beggars, it is my opinion.
