I got this mail from my friends and I though that this could be useful for the forum. After all a forum is a place where we get to know different job opportunities in the industry and it is an option and not a compulsion to follow through with this post. You may choose to ignore if you don't like the terms and conditions. Payment after 45 days is not a new concept and depends on the billing cycle of the client.
Now, regarding the rates.. you should know that there are a broad spectrum of rates in this industry, some company offer 75p for a line and some companies offer Rs. 2.50 per line.. now the catch is the person who pays 75 p will compromise in quality and TAT and the person paying 2.50 will be very demanding about quality and TAT and minimum lines output per day (some MTs do DU of 1000 lines per day and are very rich, rich enough to buy a Skoda car and have membership in a elite club !!!). MT industry has come to an age where an individual DU MT can single-handedly take care of a small account usually consisting of 150-180 minutes per day on his own, a task that would have involved at least a team of 6 people a few years ago.
So, the choice is yours because you will be paid according to your experience and talent. The MT industry is not a govt job where you get yearly increment and DA according to inflation for doing the same work. The rates in this industry has not changed a lot in the past 10 years, its only that the more talented MTs are recognized now, used optimally, and paid accordingly. So, the calculation of salary has changed, but the rates have remained almost the same since the beginning of . this industry. So if you think you deserve a high rate for your work, you have to do the hard work and earn it.
Therefore, I would suggest instead of criticizing the rates, you evaluate yourself to determine which rates your deserve to receive. Not all MTs are equally talented and each MT will get the rates according to his talent.
