Changing industry - good or bad - at whose cost
#1
Hi Everyone,

It is great pleasure to meet you all. At the outset, my deepest solace to all in the forum, despite prevailing uncertainties in the industry, we all hang together hoping change to come. No industry has seen so many transitions than MT industry and technology once laid to help human, has come to point of overthrowing humans in all verticals. Today, we are most laid back when compared to others ITES or BPO industry.

Good what we lost and what we gained. Here we lost sleep, we work preferably only in night shift, you are forbidden from celebrating your family occasions or religious celebrations, absolutely uncertain whether your job is intact for tomorrow, health ailments, no matter your diabetic or death in your family, you are supposed to deliver 99% quality with consistency.

That is great, that is how my industry works. No matter what, I have my job intact today and that I am going to lay-down my last breath for every single lines, which fetches me 90 paise, and I build my castle of hopes only on this uncertainty because I have a family to take care and my most adorable dog, not matter he loves me or not and on top of all, my company is so dear and near to me because for sure they know my fate, kind enough they provide me medical insurance and only privilege working for an MNC.

Penny and penny makes many, but penny and penny deductions makes me nutty. If you take a look around all these MNC, what they have in common. Very simple, they are not going to make your life better, instead they are going to make is more miserable than ever. Very simple, today everywhere it is common two things, cost per line and penalty per line. The best math that no one can imaging off, while my salary is paid per line, my deductions are in percentages of gross salary. Wow Kudos to the rule makers....okay I am little tough guy, now I contest for my errors marked by the QAs or QCs, I get the most weird and beaten to death answer, "IT IS CRITICAL ERROR."

Jeez can someone say what is yardstick or is there any standard protocol to measure the quality in MT industry, even if so what is the consistency of it being followed. It is simple, boss "you are at receiving end." No matter what I mark as error, because I am your boss and I am deciding authority (MNC QAs or QCs). This how it works.

All MNCs have 48 hours files, but still you are forced to work in night shift, because that how they sell their company to US market, but whose cost. This debate is not going to end, we can just talk and continue with the misery.

For all those I think it is high time, we standup together and say "Enough is Enough." We all once loved this profession, but I think it is time to say good bye before it takes our lives and family away from us.

Thank for our time folks.

Gokul
